TURNING LOGS INTO LUMBER

When a tree is determined it needs to be taken down, a tree company schedules a removal and falls the tree. Once the removal is complete, the saw log portions of the tree are delivered to the mill. We ensure each log is trimmed to the proper length and deck them by species. Logs are milled into boards, slabs and book match sets on our Woodmizer LX 450 all hydraulic bandsaw mill. We sticker and stack lumber as it comes off the mill to allow it to air dry. The air drying process takes 6-12 months for softwoods and we air dry hardwood lumber one year per inch of thickness, for example a 2” thick board will air dry for two years. After the wood is air dried sufficiently, we kiln dry our lumber to completely dry the wood, add stability and heat treat for insects. Once out of the kiln, lumber is surfaced in order to highlight its appearance and level of quality. Finally our lumber is planed, graded for quality and made available to our customers.
